The mountains of the Snowdonia National Park, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, provide a perfect background for this holiday. Country and coast are peppered with a special mix of historic sites and inspirational landscapes, all things which have made Snowdonia what it is today – a unique part of the United Kingdom.
Day 1: Depart South Wales and travel to the George IV Hotel.
Day 2: Ffestiniog Railway & Barmouth
Today we enjoy a journey on the Ffestiniog Railway from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog offering excellent views of the beautiful Vale of Ffestiniog before arriving at Blaenau Ffestiniog, the slate quarrying town that once “Roofed the World”. From Blaenau Ffestiniog we make our way by coach to Barmouth, where the Mountains meet the Sea! Barmouth is gloriously located on the Mawddach estuary with breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay, while its blue flag beach is laid out like a golden carpet in front of the towering Snowdownian backdrop.
Day 3: Llanberis & Snowdon Mountain Railway
We make our way to the thriving and popular village of Llanberis for some free time before completing a ‘Majestic Mountain Top Adventure’ journey to the rooftop of Wales on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. From the moment you leave the station your train will begin the journey upwards to the clouds before finally arriving at one of the world’s great panoramas at the Summit of Snowdon, Eryri, Land of the Eagles.
Day 4: Portmeirion & Criccieth
After breakfast we make the journey to the unique coastal resort of Portmeirion. Designed by Sir Clough William-Ellis, Portmeirion was built in imitation of a rustic Italian village, to demonstrate how a naturally beautiful place could be developed without spoiling it. For the afternoon we return to Criccieth for some free time to enjoy its unique charm and picturesque beauty.
Day 5: After breakfast depart for home.
